KIS Earth Day Clean-Up and Rails to Trails Adoption

Posted By: admin on Apr 18, 2012 in News

On Monday April 23 The Kimberley Independent School is celebrating the official adoption of a section of the Rails to Trails, Earth Day and Pitch In week. Our school initiated and proposed to Kris Belanger and the City of Kimberley, a community initiative to adopt a section of the Rails to Trails. We are the first group to “Adopt a Trail”! We feel that by promoting this event on the 23rd it will raise public awareness of the amazing trail system and the new “Adopt a Trail” program. Our anticipation is that this event will encourage other organizations to follow suit with the goal being a complete trail adoption, enhancing community spirit and relieving the City of some of the responsibility of trail maintenance. We have invited the Bulletin, SNAP, Shaw TV and the local radio. We have also invited the Mayor Ron McRae, Kimberley City Councillors and employees, Rotarians, community members and groups to attend this event.
Schedule of Events
10:30-11:30 Community Clean-up
11:30 Clean up our section of the Rails to Trails
11:45 Official adoption of the trail, ribbon cutting ceremony
12:00 BBQ- Sponsored by Overwaitea Foods If you are able to join us at this event, please meet us at The Kimberley Independent School at 11:15 and we will walk over to the Rails to Trails or meet us on the Trail!
